The Oktoberfest is held on the Theresienwiese and admission to the tents is free, however once the tents reach capacity no walk-ins are allowed inside the tents until someone inside the tents leaves. Total capacity of all tents is about 100,000 and on average 400,000 people (total of 6.5 million visitors over the 16 days) visit every day so for every 4 visitors there is only one seat which can lead to long lines and hours of waiting. Purchasing a reservation is one way to avoid the lines and the resulting waiting times if you are interested in experiencing the Oktoberfest in a more relaxed way.Each seat reservation is for one of the traditional Octoberfest tents and includes two Mass (a liter) of Beer and traditional German food.
